Experimental film

This cameraless (experimental) film was found on Youtube website. It is a work done by a art class students. The students collected all the experimental film works and combined them into this film. The reason why I like this film is because this film was not just "combine" works together, but also "integrate" them into a more impressive work.
Differ from the experimental film we saw in the class. In many experimental film works, the author likes to add new materials in their work to make the film become vigorous. For example, the background music is one of the methods to make film more vivid. But when searching on internet, I found even though some works may add music, but the rhythm and the properties of music may not cater to their works. For example, using roll n roll to fit in a film which is filled with smooth feelings. Maybe some others like it, but for me, I don't. The song used in the film may have different section and different feelings in one song. Therefore, authors need to know how to arrange these music with their works, and this film made it.
The other one thing I like is this film includes a lot of different exhibition of the way to do the experimental film. (Of course, there are many students' works in it!) Most experimental films only have one way to display the works. For example, only the abstract changes. But after combining all the different knids of works, the film seems not only just an exhibition. It becomes more vivid than just exhibition.

Eadweard Muybridge's Animation. gif

Eadweard Muybridge (Zoopraxiscope slide)

This Eadweard Muybridge's animation really impressed me because it was represented by a circle. Usually when I searched on internet, there are many his works but most of them are linear movement. For example, a human walks through the way or the animal runs away.
From the gif file, we can see in the middle there is a red stamp is rotating and therefore, we can understand how he make this film. I really like the way he express in this work because in each segment, the boy and the girl are dancing in a little circle path. Moreover, the whole big circle slide is also rotating, performing a big rotating circle with many little rotating circles. The presentation for me is more interesting than just having a linear movement.

The Flip Book

The inhale-exhale flip book

This week we start the first project which is the flip book. There are many flip books made from people posted on  Youtube, most of them are made by hand drawing and  have a process like a long story or just make something moving. The one I think the most interesting is this film. Even though it has only 8 seconds!
The amazing thing for this film is that you may not find it change the condition , everything seems so natural then after 8 seconds, you find that the word has been changed! I thing one of the reason is that even though it is just a 8-second process, the maker uses a lot of pages. Also, the details of the changing must be carefully made. The other interesting thing for this film is that the topic for this work. The inhale-exhale is just like a contrary sense, therefore, when the flip book starts, it emphasizes the feelings to the changing from the beginning to the end. That is,  inhaling just like a beginning, and exhaling just like an end. It seems just like our breathing behavior in daily lives. This feelings really impressed me.
Before I saw this film, I usually think of the drawing flip book only and almost never think that the paper craft can also become a flip book. I really like this film. Though it only has 8 seconds, I still can feel the passion for the flip book from the maker!
